4 Helpful Tips for Stress-Free Wedding Planning

Infographic about brides and their wedding planning

Wedding planning can be very stressful. There is so much to do to get ready for your perfect day. You have to find a dress, look at wedding reception venues, pick flowers — the list goes on and on. If only you could forget your everyday responsibilities and focus solely on your wedding. You can’t do that, unfortunately, but these tips should be able to help you out.

Give yourself time
Unless you have some sort of time constraint on when you can tie the knot, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to organize your dream wedding event. Roughly 30% of brides plan their wedding for seven to 12 months, and some take even longer than that. You should start looking at wedding reception venues right away because those book up very quickly. The more time you give yourself, the less stressed you will feel.

Get organized
It’s very easy to forget things when you don’t have your wedding planning tools organized. Get a notebook, a binder, or even use Google Docs to write everything down. You can also use a wedding planning app to keep track of it all. Most apps will tell you when to start looking at wedding reception venues, when to buy your dress, when to book the photographer and have your engagement pictures, etc. It takes a lot of the guesswork out, and you don’t have to worry about remembering everything.

Don’t worry about being unique
So many brides are trying to be unlike anyone else when they plan their weddings. That’s all fine and dandy until you realize how hard to can be to go against the grain. Weddings have been taking place for ages, and it can be really hard to do something unique. Who cares if the dress you love is much like others you’ve seen in the past? Do what you want to do. So, don’t be unique just to be unique. You can find ways to be different without wanting to pull out your hair.

Don’t forget to delegate
You don’t have to go on this crazy ride all alone. There are so many people involved in your wedding that can help you plan. Let your maid of honor research reception halls for you. Ask your bridesmaids to help plan your bridal shower. Have your mom look for your florist. All of these people want you to have a great wedding and will be willing to help you plan.

The best day of your life is just around the corner, but you don’t need to freak out (unless it’s for joyous reasons). Give yourself time, get organized, do what you want, and ask for help. You want to be able to enjoy the journey of planning the day you say “I do” as much as you enjoy the actual day.
